When to call 9-1-1: Dial 9-1-1 for situations where someone is seriously injured or sick, a crime is in progress, you smell smoke or see fire, or someone is in immediate danger.
-
When to call the non-emergency line: Use the non-emergency line to report a crime with no suspect present (like lost property or fraud), or for other non-urgent police matters.
-
Power Outages: Call your local power company directly unless the situation is dangerous (e.g., downed lines). Do not call 9-1-1 to report a general power outage.
